Small group personal training explained
GO Fitness is a boutique, training experience made up of a group of up to 8 people, 2 expert coaches coaching the session, operating out of our purpose-made, fully equipped studio in Lewes. Born out of years of delivering one-to-one personal fitness training, Emily and John, founders of GO Fitness identified that there was a real sweet spot for training people in small groups. All the benefits of intimate and hands-on personal training but with the motivation that comes with working towards goals with others. And more affordable too.
You've hit a point that many of us face, especially as we get a bit older. The idea of walking into a big, busy gym can feel pretty daunting. It's easy to think everyone else knows exactly what they're doing, leaving you feeling a bit lost, slow, or even worried about getting hurt. You just want to feel good again – to move freely, without those nagging aches and pains, and to have the energy you once did.
Rediscover Your Best Self at GO Fitness
At GO Fitness, we completely understand. We've created a unique studio in Lewes specifically for men and women who want to reclaim their vitality without the intimidation of a commercial gym. You won't find rows of complicated machines or loud, thumping music here. Instead, you'll discover a supportive, welcoming space where feeling "slow, tired, and achy" becomes a distant memory.
Personalised Coaching, Real Results
We know you want to exercise correctly and safely. That's why our expert coaches are here to guide you every step of the way. We’ll show you exactly what to do, how to do it, and help you build confidence with each session. Our focus is on helping you move without pain, build lasting energy, and feel fitter than you have in years. You’ll be working alongside others who share similar goals, creating a friendly community where encouragement is always on the agenda.

What is strength training? It’s about working and creating resistance in your muscles.
Whilst there is an aerobic and cardio element to your workout, it’s working your muscles more anaerobicly from where the results come most quickly. Better strength, more energy, improved muscle tone, enhanced bone density and a really improved appearance are just some of the benefits. And that’s not to mention the mental uplift!
GO Fitness is results based. That means we expect you to see real, positive changes to your body and how you feel very soon after starting. Typically we say attending 1 or 2 sessions a week, for 4 weeks will have you convinced of its merits.
It also helps to forge the habit of doing exercise which makes it become a welcomed part of your own lifestyle. Gyms and self-training can seem cheaper but it’s often too easy to forgo them. We know that our clients come to our classes and are thankful for coming even when they weren’t ‘feeling it’!
Flexibility
We want you to routinely enjoy exercise but when it suits you. Whether you’re a lark or an owl, we have sessions running around the clock for you to mix and match to your own schedule. Add more classes, chop and change the days – no problem.
Accountability
Let’s face it, we’re not always in the mood for getting busy in a gym. But our small classes are made up of other like-minded people and your coach who are looking forward to seeing you. Knowing you’ll be missed is very motivating!
Support
We’re here to get you results and if you’re not here, you’ll hear from us. We always check in with you to make sure you’re on track to meet your goals and if you need a little help with nutrition or motivation, consider it sorted.
Training in small groups
When you hit a PB, it’s not just the sound of the coach’s cheers you’ll hear. We’re in it together and your compatriots are a big part of your success and you their’s. Small group training is a group experience all facilitated by the close attention of a real expert.
The coaches
All of our coaches are highly qualified, experienced and personally invested in you. They’re looking out for you both in and out of the gym and your designated Personal Coach will frequently check in with you to make sure all is well.
Beyond the fitness studio
We’re here to create achievable and real change in you and in ways that you’ll enjoy and embrace. Beyond attending tailored fitness classes, we go further. We’ll guide you on nutrition, weight loss and even use our Styku 3D scanner to track the changes to your body.
Everyone of our clients can receive regular Styku 3D body scan in the privacy of the GO Fitness studio. In seconds, GO Fitness will establish a super accurate, 3D model of your body shape making progress truly measurable and visual.
Meet the GO Fitness team
GO Fitness is the brainchild of husband and wife team Emily and John Saxby-Collins. With years of delivering personal training, they recognised that for many, small group training was a better and more affordable option and with the added benefit of a shared experience that clients enjoy. They’re very much hands-on with designing and delivering all the programmes along with their hand-picked team of fully qualified instructors.

I’d like to come and try GO Fitness but have some concerns
You’re not alone. Lots of our clients have concerns and anxieties before coming to their first session. For some it maybe around their fitness, for others it maybe about injuries or others, just a fear of failure. We always speak to new clients before they begin and get to know them and take time to understand any concerns they may have. Most importantly your biggest success comes with starting your GO Fitness programme. After that the results speak for themselves and keep you wanting more.
Do I have to be really fit to do GO Fitness?
Not at all. Fitness is a relative concept and it’s really about how you want to feel about your own physical self. We all train together, men, women, young and old. The programme is designed to work for everyone with options and alternatives explained in every session so people can train together and at the pace that suits them.
I want to start but I’ve an ongoing injury. Should I wait to get better?
In truth it depends on the nature of your injury but most of us have some kind of grumble but exercise can be modified to take this into account. In fact, we see many pains and niggles are fixed by training. We ask in every session if there’s any thing we should know about and tailor your session accordingly. Small group training means we know our clients and their capabilities well, so we’re usually the first to suggest options for a client. We’ll also chat about any particular injury before you sign up and make sure the programme is right for you.
If I can’t make a booked session, will I lose the credit?
We recognise that small group training is an investment in yourself and our lives are busy and cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. We ask that everyone gives us as much notice as possible in order for others to take your place – ideally more than 24 hours. If this is not possible we will take a discretionary view based on the circumstances. We are keen to make sure that you don’t lose your credits but equally that others aren’t prevented from attending classes by unwanted bookings.
Can I pause my subscription?
Members can enjoy a well-earned holiday, twice a year without losing money.
Can I pay-as-I-go?
For practical reasons, we’re unable to sell courses on a pay-as-you-go basis. We run the classes on a monthly subscription basis with different packages reflecting clients’ individual requirements. If you need to add more credits to your existing allowance, we recommend upgrading to the next level as this brings with it financial and member benefits. If you need to downgrade this can be done any time the following month.
What happens if I need to cancel my membership?
No problem. We appreciate that for a number of reasons cancellations happen. We make sure that this is a painless and simple process. Give us a month’s notice and we’ll suspend the payments. Alternatively, simply pause the membership and we’ll restart the programme when it suits you.
Do I have to attend the same class every week?
No. All members of GO Fitness have access to our app and are able to Flexi-book their sessions depending on availability. Each week, if spaces are available, members can book any type of session and at a time that suits. If the session is fully booked, members can request being put on a waiting list. It’s highly unusual for a session not to be available on any given day, but class sizes are restricted and early booking is advisable.
Are all the sessions the same?
No. Every 4 weeks we change the content of every session to work bodies in different ways and keep it fun. In any given week we have at least three different types of class available that focus to differing degrees on exercises that are either strength-based or cardiovascular or a hybrid of the two. We always have a warm up and warm down that also changes and all classes are 45 minutes.
Can I attend GO Fitness outside Lewes?
We have lots of clients from in and around Lewes. At the moment we just have the one fitness studio but with good parking and close proximity to the A27 and A26, getting to us is simple.
