A lot of people I speak to say the same thing… “once I’m at the gym it’s OK, it’s just getting to the gym I struggle with”. So how can you keep yourself motivated whatever fitness goal you have?
Strength doesn’t come from what you can do. It comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.
Here are a few ideas I have come up with..if you have any more you would like to share – post on my FB page! Emily Marie Personal Training
It’s all about getting your mind in the right place. If you’re having a debate with yourself on whether to hit the gym or get off your butt for that boxfit class or home workout..take time to:
- Imagine how you’ll feel afterwards – we all know we feel sooo much better after a workout
- Imagine how you are going to look and feel if you stick to your exercise plan
Set a GOAL and be specific.
Set yourself a goal – how fit do you want to feel? What do you want to look like? What dress or waist size do you want to be?
Set yourself a specific time frame… try and be realistic! But at the same time aim high – don’t give yourself a super long time frame…it just won’t get you going.
Take before and after photos
The before photo’s will remind you of how you feel and look at the beginning of your fitness journey and your after photo helps measure your progression.
Create the habit by being consistant
Schedule in your workout – put in in your diary or schedule reminders on your phone so you don’t forget. Creating a new habit means being consistent in making it.
Invest in a personal coach or trainer
If you find you really struggle to get things going – invest in a personal coach. They will help get you in the right mind set, build confidence and expand your knowledge specific to your fitness goal.
